These systems can be based on either a chemical reaction or a biological process:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Biological Reaction<\/strong>: Created using yeast, sugar, and water.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Chemical Reaction<\/strong>: Created using citric acid, sodium bicarbonate, and water.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We will provide a list of recipes below for these methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alternatively, a third option is to use a CO2 system with a refillable CO2 tank. This approach, while requiring periodic visits to refill the tank, is the most reliable and cost-effective solution in the long term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pros and Cons of CO2 Systems<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Each type of CO2 system has its own advantages and disadvantages, primarily related to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Duration<\/strong>: How long the system lasts before needing to be reset.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Pressure<\/strong>: The amount of pressure generated.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>For instance, the citric acid and sodium bicarbonate method generates significant pressure. Because of this, we recommend using a system designed to handle high PSI rather than relying on a soda bottle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u26a0\ufe0f <strong>Caution<\/strong>: Using a soda bottle with high-pressure systems can be dangerous. A compromised bottle can become a high-velocity projectile, posing serious risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Biological CO2 System Setup<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For our biological CO2 systems, we typically use a single-bottle setup. Here\u2019s what you\u2019ll need to get started:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Materials for DIY Systems (Biological or Chemical):<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Two-liter bottle<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bottle cap with airline connector<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Airline tubing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Needle valve<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Solenoid<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Diffuser<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One-way air valve<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For those new to DIY systems, there are also kits available that support a two-bottle method. The second bottle acts as a filter to ensure the CO2 is properly cleaned before use.
